Jammu bags Men, Women titles in Tug of War

JAMMU, JAN 4: Jammu district clinched both men and women titles in two-day 3rd Senior State Tug of War Championship, organised by J&K Tug of War Association, at Unique Public Higher Secondary School Gadi Garh, near here today.
In Men’s final, District Jammu defeated Unique Sports Club, Jammu by 2-1. Earlier, in semi-finals, District Jammu beat Samba by 2-1 while Unique Sports Club outplayed district Pulwama by 2-1.
Similarly, in Women category, Jammu trounced Samba by 2-0. Samba beat Unique Sports Club by 2-1 and Jammu downed district Pulwama by 2-0.
Today’s finals and semi-final matches were officiated by the technical panel comprising Ravinder Singh (Chief Refree), Gaurav Kumar Dubey (Refree), Robin Singh and Sourbh Dubey (both umpires). Member Legislative Council (MLC), Charanjit Singh Khalsa was the Chief Guest during prize distribution function, who alongwith Working President of the Association, Jodh Singh Ishar presented Winners and Runners-up trophies besides individual prizes among players.
Speaking on the occasion, Charanjit Singh Khalsa appealed to the participants to take part in sports in a big way and stay away from drugs and refrain from indulging in anti-social activities so as to become a healthy and responsible citizen.
The selected players are going to participate in 30th Senior Men & women National Championship & 15th Senior Federation Cup being held from 13th-18th January 2018 at Sports Complex Shri Tej Bahadur Khalsa College, Roopnagar Anandpur Sahib, Punjab.
Meanwhile, as per organisers, the selected players of the competition shall report for the coaching camp, for upcoming nationals, at UPHSS Gadi Gadh from tomorrow. The certificates and title trophies were sponsored by Trans Asia Hotels Pvt. Ltd, a unit of Cygnett Park Asia, Jammu.
