Court awards one year imprisonment to thieves

JAMMU, JAN 4: Munsiff Jammu Aarti Devi today awarded one year imprisonment to Hira Lal S/o Dharam Pal and Sonu Kumar S/o Valayati Ram, both residents of village Dhiyaran, District Jammu.
According to the prosecution case, on 10-3-2008 on the written complaint of complainant namely Shamsher Singh alleging that in the intervening night of 9-10th March, 2008 some persons broke locks of complainant’s shop and stole Rs. 28000 cash, recharge cards of BSNL worth Rs. 10000 and a small TV Brand Victor 764 from the shop of Davinder Kumar PW-2 thereby committing offence U/Ss 457/380/RPC.
Munsiff Jammu Aarti Devi after hearing CPO Ashish Rathore with PO Siddarth Thakur for the State observed that prosecution has succeeded in proving the guilt of accused persons beyond reasonable doubt which is the basic foundation of our criminal jurisprudence resulting in conviction of the accused person of the charges U/S 380 RPC and sentence of one year simple imprisonment is imposed upon each of accused person. Apart from it, a fine of Rs. 5000 is also inflicted upon each of them in default of which an additional imprisonment of 10 days is imposed. Concerned clerk is directed to prepare the warrant of commitment of a sentence and fine and same shall be sent to Superintendent Jail Kot Bhalwal alongwith accused person arrested before court today.
