Colourful Nagar Kirtan organized on Parkash Utsav of Guru Gobind Singh

JAMMU, JAN 2: A Vishal Nagar Kirtan was organized here in the City of Temples today to celebrate the forthcoming Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, the 10th Guru of Sikhism who laid down his own life and sacrificed his father, mother and sons for the sake of humanity and protection of right cause of community.
The Nagar Kirtan started from Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar, Jammu marching through Swami Vivekananda Chowk, Gummat Crossing, Dogra Chowk, Bikram Chowk, Asia Hotel, Green Belt Park Gandhi Nagar, Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar Road, Gole Market, F.C.I. Depot, Shiva Chowk, Khalsa Chowk and culminated at Gurudwara Sri Singh Sabha, Nanak Nagar, Jammu.
Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji-Mukhi-Shiromani Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch, Digiana Ashram, Jammu participated in the Nagar Kirtan and blessed the devotees.
A large number of devotees participated. On the occasion people of all colours and creeds participated in which Pracharak Bhai Harjinder Singh Manjhi, Kavishar Bhai Baldev Singh Ji Sabra, Panthak Kavi Bhai Balbir Singh Ji Bal Morinda, Kavi Pandit Sushil Kumar Aman-Ropar, Pracharak Bhai Harmeet Singh Ji-Makhanpur Simbal, Pracharak Bhai Gurmeet Singh Ji-Preet Nagar, Jammu participated, recited the poetry and threw light on the history of life and teachings of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. A large number of people from Hindu community also paid their obeisance to Guru Granth Sahib en route. The Sikh youth played Ghatka enroute and performed many feat during the Nagar Kirtan. A large number of devotees were sweeping the road where from the Nagar Kirtan proceeded.
To greet the Nagar Kirtan the Shopkeepers and Associations en route had erected welcome gates. Besides, the stalls serving food items fruits, water and juice to participants were also installed at various places by the people to serve the devotees who had taken part in Nagar Kirtan.
The authorities had made elaborate arrangements for the Nagar Kirtan and the traffic was also diverted from the routes where from the Nagar Kirtan was to pass.
The proceedings of Nagar Kirtan were conducted by the General Secretary of District Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Jammu S. Avtar Singh Khalsa.
Sardar T. S. Wazir, Chairman, State Gurudwara Prabandhak Board Jammu-Kashmir thanked the administration and all the departments who given their co-operation for arrangement of Nagar Kirtan. He further said that it was only Guru Gobind Singh Ji who gave the equal right of livelihood to every human being with honour and dignity. His sacrifices cannot be equalized in this universe at any level.
S. Jagjit Singh, President, District Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Jammu congratulated the devotees and said that Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj saved the humanity and spread the message of love, equality and worship among whole world. S. Jagjit Singh President of DGPC Jammu also appealed to the Sangat for the participation in the Gurupurab Samagan at Gurudwara Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Chand Nagar, Jammu on 05.01.2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
