NSS organizes Awareness rally against drugs-menace

JAMMU, DEC 30: Continuing their efforts to spread awareness among locals, especially youngsters regarding ill-effects of drugs, the NSS Unit of Govt. SPMR College of Commerce held an awareness rally today. The rally started from the Commerce College and passed through various bazaars of city. Organized as a part of NSS Winter Awareness camp-2017, the rally was attended by a number of NSS volunteers and officers.
Unfortunately the city of Jammu has witnessed a rampant increase in drug-abuse during recent years. Consequently, many social organizations highlighted demands for initiating various measures to eradicate menace of drugs from society. The NSS remained at the forefront for taking up issues directly confronting the society besides launching various programmes to spread awareness about drugs. It is pertinent to mention that a winter camp has been organized under auspices of NSS Unit of Commerce College with theme ‘Drug-abuse’. All NSS volunteers expressed great enthusiasm in spreading awareness for the cause which was also clearly reflected during today’s awareness rally. Speaking on the occasion, NSS officers urged all segments of society including social organization and NGOs besides concerned Government authorities for contributing their bit to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society. The awareness rally, which has been widely appreciated and commended by different sections of the society, is expected to trigger a positive awareness besides promoting a culture of working dedicatedly for a drug-free society.
