Child labour part of CM’s event as teenagers served food to officials

RAJOURI, DEC 23: Child labour remained part of CM’s Public grievance redressal camp where teenagers were found serving food to officials who were in Rajouri to take part in CM’s initiative.
The lawn of Dak Bungalow Rajouri turned into a site of offence when teenagers were found serving food to various officials who were in Rajouri to take part in CM’s Public Grievance Redressal Camp and no one bothered to stop this blatant violation.
Sources revealed that the catering work was outsourced to a company by the district administration to serve food to the officials and they hired some waiters who were teenagers belonging to far flung village of Sunderbani of border district Rajouri and all of these hired teenagers were serving food in the presence of all the senior officials of civil and police administration.
No one seems to be bothered about stopping this menace as was evident on seeing all the officials found enjoying food and most surprising that it all happened smoothly in the presence of Labour Commissioner.
However owner of this company had tutored these waiters to tell their age as 18 years if anyone questioned them but photographs of these boys are good enough to reveal their age
It is pertinent to mention here that government and the concerned department organised various programmes to stop child labour and claimed that they got much success in this but the fact remains that child labour is still persisting and today’s event is best evidence of its existence even in CM’s programme, not to talk of other events.
“This is unexpected act by the company owner and same will be checked sternly by the administration” said Senior NC leader Shafqat Mir.
He added that the concerned department shall take appropriate action against this said company owner so that no one is able to derail government’s initiative.
