Sanctions meritorious scholarship for 399 police wards

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police, Dr S P Vaid on Saturday sanctioned special reward and meritorious scholarship of Rs 14,74,400 in favour of 399 wards of serving police personnel, who have secured above 80 per cent and 70 per cent marks in the annual examination of class 10th and 8th respectively during the academic session 2016-17.
The scholarship has been sanctioned out of Central Police Welfare Fund.
The contributory fund has been created to encourage and boost the talented school going children of police personnel.
Those who have been granted special reward included 139 girl students.
Eighty five wards who have secured above 90 percent in the annual examination during the academic session 2016-17 were provided Rs 5000 each and Rs 3600 each was granted in favour of 179 wards of 10th class who have secured upto 90 percent.
The DGP has also sanctioned meritorious scholarship in favour of 135 wards of 8th class.
Rs 3000 each has been sanctioned in favour of those wards who have secured 75 percent and above marks in the annual examination during the academic session 2016-17.
