ADC chairs disaster preparedness meet

POONCH, DEC 8: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Poonch Dr. Bashrat Hussain Inqlabi today chaired a meeting of officers of different departments to discuss the Disaster Response Management and overall preparedness to tackle the situation in view of the western disturbances which are likely to hit the state ahead.
The ADC, while chairing the meeting, directed concerned departments for prompt response during emergency like situations so that post disaster measures can be carried out effectively.
He called upon DDMA for establishment of permanent cell at the district Headquarters which shall liaise/coordinate with sub division Headquarters, Tehsil Headquarters and police control rooms round the clock in case of any emergency like situation so that damages can be minimized.
The meeting was informed that two vulnerable snow bound spots including Mughal road and adjoining villages in Bufliaz and area of Loran and Swajian in Mandi needs utmost attention.
The ADC said that these areas would be accorded top priority so far as snow clearance, availability of ration, drinking water, power restoration and other rescue operations are concerned. He directed the concerned to keep their men and machinery in a state of readiness in coming days.
Meanwhile, he also directed Fire and Emergency Department for prompt action in case of any emergence of fire and asked ADC for effective communication and coordination among all stakeholders during emergency.
