Army inaugurates Youth Festival at Doda

DODA, Dec 2 : With a view to channelize the energy of the youth and bring out the creative talent of the students, Army stationed at Doda inaugurated 4 day Youth Festival at Community Hall here today.
It is the first of its kind activity undertaken by the Army in Doda while youth festivals have been earlier held at Bhaderwah and Kishtwar. Students drawn from 14 schools of Doda are participating in the festival.
According to organisers the youth festival spread over four days will follow a schedule drawn by the Army. On day one debate and declamation contest was held.
On December 3 skits and singing contests will be held, Singing will be held in Solo as well as duet forms. On December 4 dancing and painting competitions will take place while on December 05 the best items from the preceding three days will be presented by the participants. Speaking on the occasion Commanding Officer said that the festival will provide a platform to youth of Doda to exhibit their talent in different fields. Youth festival will also foster social and communal harmony besides creativity and positivity, he said. Individual prizes and trophies for best performers will be awarded. Overall first three schools will be awarded cash prizes as well as champion trophies, informed the organisers.The inaugural programme was witnessed by a large number of school and college students besides scores of youth of Doda.
