Narcotic smuggler arrested with 8 Kg heroin

JAMMU, NOV 26: In yet another operation, Jammu police achieved major success by recovering eight kilogram heroin (8 packets each weighing 1 Kg.) from a narcotic smuggler who was boarding a bus bearing registration No: JK02BA-6749 which was coming from Srinagar to Delhi.
The accused has been identified as Mohd Anwar, s/o Mohd Mishri, r/o Lam, Nowshera Rajouri.
IGP Jammu Zone, Dr. S.D. Singh, Jamwal IPS informed this to media during a press conference held at Police Control Room here today. DIG JSK Range Rafeeq-ul-Hassan-IPS and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta IPS were also present at the press conference.
Dr. Singh said that based on specific intelligence received and developed by Jammu Police, a joint police team of SOG Jammu and Gangyal Police Station laid a naka at Kunjwani. During checking process Police intercepted a vehicle and during search they recovered eight packets of Heroin one kg each concealed in an Apple Box. The accused was arrested and contraband seized.
In this regard FIR No. 90/2017 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Gangyal.
The operation was launched under the supervision of SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta-IPS and SSP (OPS) Viney Sharma.
Moreover, in addition to the above recovery Police has recovered more narcotics from other districts of Jammu Zone during the last 24 hours.
In Jammu 2400 intoxicant capsules were recovered by Gandhi Nagar Police party from two drug peddlers who have been identified as Ashok Kumar, s/o Jagpal and Ravi Kumar, s/o Manoj Kumar both residents of U.P. In this regard case FIR No: 22/17 NDPS Act stands registered at PS Gandhi Nagar.
In Kathua district 1 kg. 200 gm Charas was recovered from Fruit Mandi yesterday. The accused have been identified as Dhani Ram, s/o Karnail Singh and Sunil Kumar, s/o Thora Ram, both residents of village Sundrana Bani were arrested and case FIR No: 357/17 U/sec. 8/20 NDPS Act registered at PS Kathua.
In other two mountainous districts of Jammu Zone, 110 grams heroin was recovered yesterday by SOG Rajouri near Bus Stand Rajouri from the driver of a vehicle bearing registration No: JK02A-3279. The accused driver has been identified as Junaid, s/o Mohd Aslam, r/o Peer Badsher, who was arrested and case FIR No: 521/ 17 U/S 8/ 21/ 22 NDPS Act registered at PS Rajouri.
In Kishtwar district, Police recovered 350 gram Charas during patrolling at Kuleed Chowk from a drug peddler namely Younus, s/o Shamas Din, r/o Kijayee. The accused was arrested and case FIR No: 247/17 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered at PS Kishtwar.
While interacting with media, Dr. Jamwal said that momentum of fight against drugs will continue and more recoveries are expected in near future.
