Govt working on upgradation of sports infrastructure in JK: Lal Singh

JAMMU, NOV 18: The three -day 16th State Matsogi-Do championship, which started on November 16, 2017concluded at Indoor Stadium in M A Stadium on Saturday evening. Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment Choudhary Lal Singh was the chief guest on the occasion.
About 700 participants from Jammu, Samba, Udhampur, Kathua and Srinagar districts participated in the tournament. Samba district emerged as the winner of the tournament while Jammu was the first runners-up. Udhampur was the second runners-up.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the promotion of Matsogi-Do tournament was important for the society. He said that development of sports infrastructure was the priority of present government and various steps had been initiated to upgrade the sports infrastructure in the state and to boost the sports activities.
Choudhary Lal Singh said that various stadia and playgrounds had been developed on modern lines for providing better facilities to the youth. He said that Government had devised an action plan under which the sports infrastructure in the State would be strengthened and upgraded.
Choudhary Lal Singh requested the parents to encourage their wards to undertake sports activities and advise them to play the game with sportsman spirit. He said that co-curricular activities were essential for making the children physically and mentally fit. He appealed the students to participate in sports activities in a big way besides pursuing academic education.
