Three killed, 8 injured in Poonch road accident

Rajouri, Nov 16: Three persons were killed and eight others got injured as the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident in Poonch district.
“A taxi carrying baratis this evening met with an accident in Uchad village of tehsil Mendhar in Poonch district,” police here said.
They said that three persons have died in the mishap while eight others got injured and added, “they have been rushed to the hospital while condition of some of them was stated to be serious.”
A Tata Sumo (JK12 1639) on way to Uchad village from Mendhar met with an accident due to overloading and plunged into a deep gorge.
Locals and Army rushed to the spot and launched the rescue operation and shifted injured to the Mehndar hospital.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Nissar, son of Mohammad Sadiq, Mohammad Amir, son of Said Akbar and Murtaza Arif, son of Mohammad Arif, all residents of Uchad village.
Injured were Shahid Iqbal, Ramzan Ahmed, Mohammad Shokat, Shamrez Iqbal, Zahid Iqbal and Umar Bilal, Tahir Iqbal and Tamur Ahmed.
Three critically injured shifted to GMC Jammu were Shahid Iqbal, Ramzan Ahmed and Mohamamd Shokat.
“Due to overloading and harsh driving, mishap took place while some of the injured lost their lives on way to hospital,” police added.
Body of deceased persons was handed over to the families after performing legal formalities.
Police have taken cognizance and started investigations into the matter.
