Jammu, Nov 13: Against the backdrop of National Conference president, Dr Farooq Abdullah’s recent statement on PoK, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and former Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday said that PoK is part of Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral part of India.
“I would like to say that PoK is very much part of J&K and J&K is and should remain part of India,” Azad told reporters here this afternoon.
On attacks on political workers, the Congress stalwart said, “different political parties and politicians are having different views over J&K.”
Terming thrashing and threatening of a Congress worker in South Kashmir, as unfortunate, he said that this is one of dangerous trends reported across the country.
“I strongly condemned and such things should not happen anywhere in the Country,” he added and said that killing of political workers across the country is most unfortunate these days whether in Kashmir or Kerela.
He further said that killing of political workers by militants or by workers of other political party is most dangerous things happening across the country and atmosphere in the country is very bad.
On a query regarding Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s meetings with Shia cleric over Ram Temple issue, Azad, “I don’t know who has authorized him to meet people over the issue, as the case is in Supreme Court.”
Saying that he is not particularly targeting this gentleman (Ravi Shankar), Azad added that there are number of self-styled leaders who are trying to fishing the trouble water.
“Case is in the SC and let the Court decide,” he further added.
When asked about preparation of Congress for Gujarat elections, Congress leader said, “I would only request the Election Commission to conduct free, fair and fearless elections in Gujarat.”
“I am using three words – free, fair and without fear polls in Gujarat,” he asserted.
