23 pilgrims injured as bus plunges into gorge

Jammu, Oct 13: At least 23 pilgrims were injured as bus they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in Reasi district.
“A local bus carrying pilgrims on way from Deva Mayee to Katra this morning skidded off the road and plunged into 50-feet deep gorge just short of Katra,” police here said.
They said that 23 pilgrims sustained injuries in the mishap, adding, “three seriously injured were referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu.”
Other injured passengers were admitted to the CHC Katra and are stable.
Meanwhile Union Minister of State in PMO, Dr Jitendera Singh has expressed his deep shock over the unfortunate accident at Katra in which several persons were injured.
He has directed the district administration to provide immediate help and other basic facilities to the victims. He is also in touch with administration and continuously monitoring the situation.
The Union Minister has assured that the government will take all necessary steps for providing specialised treatment to injured persons admitted in hospitals of Katra and Jammu.
The local people, civil administration and police rushed to the spot and rescued all injured persons. When last report came, all 25 injured have been shifted to Katra as well as Jammu for treatment.
