Govt giving top priority to Ladakh region: Khan

LEH, OCT 12: Under Shyama Prasad Mukherji RURBAN Mission, the Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Law & Justice Abdul Haq Khan launched the activities of Rurban activities in Spituk Cluster of Leh district. He also chaired a workshop on ” Paryatan Parv” under National Rurban Mission at Nagarjuna Auditorium CIBS, Choglamsar today.
The workshop was attended by Executive Councilor for Rural Development Tsering Wangdus, Nirmal Sharma, Commissioner Secretary, Rural Development Panchayati Raj J&K Govt; Deputy Commissioner, Leh Avny Lavasa; ASP Leh, Stanzin Losal; Councilor Phyang Puchok Dorjey; Councilor Skyu-Markha, Sonam Norboo; ACD Leh Tsering Paldan and villagers of Spituk, Choglamsar and Tashi Gytsal.
Addressing the programme, Minister Abdul Haq Khan said that the present state govt led by Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has been giving top priority to Ladakh region in every respect and lunching of Rurban activities worth Rs 64.92 crore is one of the prestigious project of GoI in Leh which will not only give urban facilities in all the five Panchyats of Spituk Cluster but also make the areas emerge as a major tourist attraction in years to come.
Talking about the upcoming Amusement Park at Choglamsar, the Minister directed ACD, Leh to add other innovative components in the park by ensuring proper light system so that people could amuse themselves in night hour also. For time bound completion of all the project of RARBAN, the Minister instructed Hill Council Leh to monitor all the projects closely and assured that he will also visit Leh again to review the progress. Responding to the demands of EC Rural, the Minister directed Commissioner Secretary to release adequate funds to clear liabilities under various schemes in Leh. Regarding release of funds under MGNREGA, the Minister said that there is no limit under the scheme to carry various works and assured that money will never be a constraint for Ladakh under MGNREGA. He further said that his Ministry is giving top priority to connectivity in the state especially in far-flung area like Ladakh.
Earlier, EC Rural Tsering Wangdus addressing the programme thanked Minister for releasing Rs 4 crore out of the Rs 15 crore for Rurban projects in Leh. He raised various issues and problems of Rural Development Department. He also demanded advance funds under MGNREGA, V-Set for all the 16 Blocks of district to ensure smooth functioning of EFMS, release of funds to complete various bridges under 13th Finance and release of additional funds under various schemes to clear liabilities.
Councilor Phyang Punchok Dorjey hoped that the project will make a big difference in economic upliftment in the life of the people.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner, Leh Avny Lavasa welcomed the guests and briefed about various components of Rurban project being implemented in the Spituk Cluster.
ACD Leh Tsering Paldan gave a power presentation about the silent features of various projects while BDO Leh, Tsering Wangchuk delivered vote of thanks. A film on Thorshali Aryan festival which was organized by Rural Development Department recently at Hanu village was also shown. A traditional cultural programme was also presented on the occasion.
