Jammu, Oct 9: Member of Legislative Assembly from Udhampur Constitu-ency Pawan Gupta today said that he has filed a defamation case against senior BJP leader Pawan Khajuria for allegedly asserting that the MLA has voted against the NDA candidates during President elections.
“I am not a BJP MLA nor people voted me as a BJP candidate in last assembly elections,” Gupta told reporters at a press conference.
He said that he has registered a defamation case against BJP, State General Secretary Pawan Khajuria, who used unconstitutional language against him post conclusion of elections of President of India.
“Khajuria had issued remarks that he (Pawan Gupta) has voted against NDA candidate, the President of India Ram Nath Kovind, “said the MLA.
Gupta further alleged that the BJP leader also stated that he had betrayed the BJP and the public of Udhampur Assembly Constituency.
“I am an independent MLA and voted by the people of Udhampur Constituency against BJP candidate Pawan Khajuria, who was enjoying the Modi wave at that time, “he added.
“A legal notice was served to Khajuria but he did not bother to response and ultimately a petition was registered in the Court of Principal District Judge Jammu for legal proceedings following which the Court directed him to appear in person on November 11, 2017 in the Additional District Judge Udhampur,” said the MLA.
