CIBS celebrates 800th Maha Parinirvana

LEH, OCT 9: Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (CIBS) celebrated 800th Maha Parinirvana. Khanpo Dorje Phuntsog, Sanghasena, Khanchen Tsewang Rigzen and CIBS Administrative Officer Tsering Motup graced the occasion. The programme was organized by 800th commemoration of Lord Jigten Sumgon in collaboration with CIBS. Several paintings and writings of Lord Jigten Sumgon’s were displayed at the Nagarjuna Stadium. An essay competition was also held and winners of the competition were awarded. Students from various monasteries and schools were also present at the stadium. The day is also celebrated in other countries and monasteries. Various speakers spoke on the occasion on life history of Lord Jigten Sumgon. A talk on the relation of the students and teachers at that time was also organised. Dehradun will be celebrating the 800th Maha Nirvana from October 19 to 25, in which prominent personalities like Skyabgon Rinpoche, Gyalwang Karmapa Thinles Dorje and others will participate.
