Umba residents take out rally, demand electric supply

KARGIL, OCT 6: Residents of Umba village of Kargil district today took out protest rally demanding electric supply. Large number of people assembled and started protesting under the leadership of eminent cleric Syed Mohammad Musavi. Raising slogans against LAHDC Kargil, protesters took out a rally, which started from Hussaini Park and culminated at LAHDC campus.
Addressing protesters, Syed Mohammad Musavi said that the people are not being provided electric supply. Local leaders always use lip service during election but do nothing to mitigate the problem after they get elected, he said. “Government installed electric meters in our village 15 years ago but failed to provide power supply in our area,” he said. Later, the protesters called on Executive Councillor Mohammad Hussain Akhone who assured to mitigate the problem. “We will provide electric poles and will connect it with HT line so that soon the village get electric supply,” he added.
