Neglected Jammu taken by surprise with Mehbooba’s probe order

Jammu, Sep 6: Since decades-the land of Dogras, Jammu is-individually fighting its war against decades old discrimination at the hands of Kashmir centric rulers, no matter whatever be the matter or the concern but this time, it was height of alleged discrimination that the braid chopping incidents, which started from Jammu districts had no caretaker but couple of cases in Kashmir, jolted the entire government machinery on the directions of the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
Days back when two cases of mysterious braid chopping were reported in the Kashmir Valley, the Chief Minister was on her toes and called an immediate review meeting thus directing constitution of Special Investigation Team to probe the incidents.
In Jammu, only FIRs were registered in mysterious incidents with no concrete solution than assurances from the police to crack the mystery but, the winter capital was taken to surprise when the Chief Minister herself in Kashmir intervened and directed the administration to solve the mystery on priority.
Mehbooba Mufti however, without wasting a minute, directed the J&K Police Chief to constitute SIT and ensure arrest of the culprits.
“More than 50 cases of braid chopping took place in Jammu in the past three months but neither anybody initiated to found the causes nor no serious action was initiated,” a local rued.
He said that the cases were reported in Rajouri, Poonch, Samba, Kathua, Bhaderwah, Doda and Reasi belts but couple of cases reported in the Kashmir, shook the political bosses and the administration from top to bottom.
“This is surprising that cases in Jammu did not wake up the Chief Minister from slumber but couple of cases in the Valley shook the entire government machinery,” he said.
This gesture of the supreme chair, clears that she is the “Chief Minister of Kashmir” but not of Jammu, another local rued and said, “she must act neutral rather than being biased.”
The Special Investigation Team constituted to crack the mystery is trying hard to solve the cases while Jammu and Kashmir Police Department also announced Rs Six Lakh cash reward for the informer, who will help in solving the case.
“What a mockery of the system? Either politically linked, police or administration, all are concerned for the Kashmir and busy appeasing the sentiments of Kashmir centric but Jammu and its people are left on God’s mercy,” said a Jammu based retired government official.
Five incidents of hair chopping in South Kashmir’s Kulgam and Anantnag districts created fear psychosis among the locals, especially girls.
Two incidents have been reported from Chak Path Dooru and Magray Pora Achabal in Anantnag while at Aminu, Ashmoji and Manzgam Koril in Kulgam, the hair of three girls were chopped off by unknown persons.
As reported already 12 incidents of braid chopping in Kulgam district alone has been reported in a week’s time.
SP Kulgam has also constituted a special investigation team to investigate braid cutting cases on fast track basis and bring culprits to book.
People were appealed to come forward to help police in speedy investigation. A dedicated phone number 7051510660 shall also remain functional at PCR Kulgam 24×7 for informing police about such matters.
Mehbooba Mufti has asked the DGP to speed up the probe in such cases which have caused panic among young girls and their parents.
