Girl from Kargil among 2 killed, one injured in accidents

Jammu, Sep 18: A girl from Kargil was among two killed and one injured in separate accidents across Jammu region.
“A scooty (JK02AU-1791) was hit by a tipper (JK19-3672) this afternoon near Tapyal in Ghagwal area of Samba,” police here said.
They said that the scooty rider was on way to Jammu when it accidentally skidded off and the tipper coming from behind ran over.
One of them identified as Youngdol,26, daughter of Chatan Narbu died on the spot while Stanzin,25, daughter of Sonam, both residents of Zanskar, district Kargil was injured and hospitalised.
Meanwhile in another incident, a motorcyclist was today crushed to death by a CRPF truck in city outskirts here.
“A biker identified as Sahil Hussain, 20, resident of Jagti, Nagrota this morning died on the spot when his motorcycle was hit by a CRPF vehicle near GREF Camp at Nagrota,” police here said.
They said that police shifted the body to the hospital while the vehicle was seized and investigation started.
Later hundreds of villagers assembled on the spot and blocked the Jammu-Srinagar national highway to lodge protest.
Provincial President and MLA Devender Singh Rana sought responsibility to be fixed for mismanagement of traffic, resulting in the fatal accidents.
Pacifying agitated residents, who blocked the National Highway following tragic death, Rana questioned the absence of traffic police at the stretch, used for idle parking of trucks on sides of the road.
The Deputy Commissioner, along with senior civil and police officers rushed to the spot and discussed the matter with the MLA and the irate mob.
A stern action was sought against the negligent driver and immediate arrest besides action against the traffic cops for dereliction of duties.
