Sohail, Abhishek reach semis of Sr Billiards
JAMMU: Sohail Khalid and Abhishek Pathania today qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing senior billiards event in the Jammu District Billiards and Snooker Championships, organized by J&K Billiards and Snooker Association at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here.
In the quarterfinals, played today, Sohail beat Akhil Tandon in straight frames 10-75, 100-29 while Abhishek trounced Ishan Choudhary 2-0 (101-87, 101-64).
Earlier, in the pre-quarterfinals, Nikhil Kapahi beat Manjeet Singh 2-0 (101-49, 101-77) and Abhishek Pathania defeated Gurjeet Singh 2-1 (96-100, 100-22, 100-44).
Patel beat Laxmi Club to enter semi-finals of KCSC Cup
JAMMU: Patel Cricket Club today defeated Laxmi Club by five runs to sail into the semifinals of the ongoing KC Sports Club Cup cricket tournament at KC Public School ground, here.
Batting first, after winning the toss, Patel club made 118 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs game. Amritpal and Abhinav contributed 26 and 19 runs respectively while Samad added 16 runs to the total. From Laxmi Club, Bharat and Sameer Khajuria shared two wickets each while Aman, Dhruv and Sant shared apiece each.
In reply, Laxmi club could not capitalize on brilliant 48 runs innings from Anuj and were bowled out for 113 runs in 19.4 overs. Dhruv was the other batsman to touch the double figure mark with 11 runs in his account. From Patel Club, Abhishek and Ankush took three wickets each, followed by Tribuvan, who bagged two. The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain, Sanju and Vinod Kandyara.
Reasi Yoga meet on Sept 19
JAMMU: Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Yoga Association and sponsored by the J&K State Sports Council, the district Reasi championship shall be held at holy town of Katra on September 19.
As per a handout issued here today, those interested participants have been advised to contact concerned coaches before September 16 to confirm their participation in the competition.
New National HSS faces APS Miran Sahib in Hockey final
JAMMU: New National Higher Secondary School (HSS) shall be playing against Army Public School School (APS) Miran Sahib for the title clash in the inter-school Jammu district under-19 boys’ hockey tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at K K Hakhu Stadium, here tomorrow. In the semifinals, New National HSS defeated Government Higher Secondary School Gandhi Nagar 2-0 while APS Miran Sahib trounced APS Kalu Chak 3-2.
Earlier, in preliminary round of the competition, New National HSS beat Bikram Higher Secondary School 1-0 and APS Miran Sahib defeated APs Jammu Cantonment 3-0.
Today’s matches officiated by the technical penal including Harjeet Kour, Harvinder Singh, Mandeep and Harvinder Singh.
