J&K Police issues guidelines, advisories to schools

Jammu, Sep 12: Against the backdrop of brutal killing of seven year school kid in Ryan International School, Jammu and Kashmir Police have issued guidelines and advisories to the schools.
“J&K Police have always remained on the forefront to ensure safety and security of our people in the society,” Superintendent of Police (SP) South Sandeep Choudhary, here today said.
He also said, “as far as school children is concerned, we kept the matter on hyperduster and committed to provide security on day to day basis.”
Later the SP also reminded that in mid July a process was initiated to involve and make aware all the schools on security concern, but unfortunately in between Ryan School incident happened following which, security concern was taken on mission mode.
“We have to ensure that all schools should have safety and security measures put in place,” he said adding, “we will be starting process of holding meetings with school authorities and guidelines of Supreme Court and CBSE will be prepared to make parents and school managements aware.”
“We have sought lists of staff, bus drivers, general staff and all those engaged in the schools from the concerned managements and their history/backgrounds will be scrutinised,” said the SP.
He however, said that initially schools falling in Jammu South have been issued guidelines and sought cooperation from all the stakeholders of the society.
Meanwhile, a parents body of private schools have also circulated an advisory on social media appealing them to pay attention to their kids, while sending them to private or government schools.
“You should be vigilant and sure of their safety and time to time monitor the school activities both on social and unsocial viewpoints. Remember your kids are very precious don’t hand over them to monsters,” said in an advisory.
It was further sought that all CCTV cameras should be in working conditions with two months of data back up. If there is no CCTV camera installed in the premises please speak to school authority and ask them to install.
Police verification of all the staff including maids, driver, conductor, helper, teachers etc should be done. Illegal cabs/ buses should be banned, once in a month there should be a class on Good Touch and Bad Touch by school and every Parent should be aware about their child’s activities. (UNI)
