DM discusses district Road Safety Plan

REASI, SEP 6: District Magistrate, Ravinder Kumar today chaired a meeting to discuss District Road Safety Plan.
ADC Babu Ram, ACR Harbans Lal, ARTO Shami Kumar, XENs, police authorities and other officers attended the meeting.
DM took issued instructions to adopt a multi-pronged strategy addressing education, enforcement, engineering and emergency care to improve safety on roads as recommended by ‘The National Road Safety Policy 2010’ and directions of Supreme Court of India.
Several important decisions were taken in the meeting regarding reducing accidents, smooth flow of traffic and implementing effective road safety mechanism.
DM directed the Motor Vehicle Department and the Traffic Police to ensure condemnation of old vehicles from all routes of district besides holding road safety awareness programmes in collaboration with other departments for the young drivers and the drivers of passenger service vehicles.
ARTO was directed to identify hungry routes in the district for issuing route permits to the applicants. He further issued directions to follow the guidelines and installation of speed governors in all heavy vehicles.
The DM directed the ARTO, Traffic Department and the local police to check the overloading in passenger vehicles particularly during the peak hours besides organizing mass awareness programmes regarding traffic rules and regulations.
