Doctor ‘molests’ patient, arrested

Jammu, Aug 31: A renowned neurologist of Jammu was today arrested for allegedly harassing a girl patient in his clinic, police here said.
“A complaint was lodged by a girl hailing from Reasi that she was allegedly sexually harassed by the doctor (neurologist) last evening when she had gone to his clinic at Resham Ghar for consultation,” police here said.
They said that as per complainant, the accused identified as Dr B R Kundal, a renowned neurologist, sent all the patients out of the room and ‘molested’ her.
“Acting on a complaint, we have registered the case under FIR number 114, under section 354 and today arrested the doctor,” said the police.
Clinic has also been sealed, they added.
Further investigations are in progress, they said.
Pertinent to mention here that earlier on December 26, 2016, FIR was registered against HOD of Forensic Science, Government Medical College, Jammu Dr Bhupesh Khajuria following a final year student of MBBS from GMCH Jammu lodged a complaint with police station Bakshi Nagar stating that he had molested her.
Meanwhile on February 28, 2017, another Ladakhi woman studying there has said she was molested by Dr Bhupesh Khajuria. This comes after a Ladakhi student had filed an FIR against him in December for molesting her in his office, leading to widespread protests in Jammu, Leh, and Delhi ever since.
Jammu and Kashmir government has reported 27 cases of sexual harassments in government departments over the past six years.
