3 children among 7 of family killed in Rajouri

Jammu, Aug 28: Seven members of a family, including three children were killed today when a car they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled down into a river in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The car (JK11B-4300) on way from Jammu to Rajouri this evening met with an accident when its driver lost control over the vehicle near Narian area at Chungus, police here said.
They said that the car plunged into the river in which seven members of a family were killed including the Personal Assistant of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri.
Police and locals rushed to the spot and retrieved all the seven bodies from the river.
The deceased were identified as Mehmood Ahmed, son of Jaffer Ali, Abdul Aziz, son of Jaffer Ali, Atter Begum, daughter of Jaffer Ali, Jameela, wife of Mehmood Ahmed, Rehan, so of Mehmood Ahmed, Husnain, son of Mehmood Ahmed and Alisha, daughter of Mehmood Ahmed.
Meanwhile the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed deep shock and grief over the tragic death of seven persons in a road accident in Chingus area of Rajouri district today.
In her message, the Chief Minister described the deaths in the accident as unfortunate. She said the growing number of road accidents in the hilly areas of the State call for review of the status of passenger safety, vehicle and road conditions and other parametres.
Mehbooba Mufti has conveyed her sympathies to the families of those killed in the accident.
Meanwhile Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh expressed grief and sorrow over the death of six passengers in a tragic road accident in Chingus area of Rajouri district.
While conveying his sympathies to the bereaved family members, he asked the district administration to ensure swift rescue operations and provide all possible help to the affected.
