JAMMU, AUG 26: Bharat petroleum Corp Ltd, India’s second largest oil marketing company in yet another customer friendly initiative rolled out the state’s first all women petrol pump at police Pariwar R.O. in Gandhi Nagar Jammu. While the women empowerment is one of the Govt’s top initiatives, the company decided to start the same at this petrol pump considering the multiple programmes towards women empowerment initiated by J&K Police.
During the visit of DGP J&K police Dr. S.P Vaid at this Petrol Pump on 25/02/2017, BPCL’s Territory Manager Rajesh Sharma had proposed to convert this petrol pump as the All Women Petrol Pump during day time and extend the fuel services round the clock. Having accepted the same by DGP Jammu, IGP Jammu zone arranged the placement of women staff and the displaced male staff got accommodated by converting this R.O. into 24 hrs. Open outlet.
Dr. S.D Singh (IPS), IGP Jammu zone inaugurated the petrol pump and appealed to the customers to avail the services at this R.O. now onwards 24 Hrs. On the occasion, BPCL also felicitated its prominent customer Dr. Uttam Singh and appreciated his services to the remotest areas of Jammu division.
Rajesh Sharma, Territory Manager (Retail) J&K informed the gathering about the success story of BPCL’s association with J&K police by way of running five such petrol pumps in Jammu division since more than a decade. He further briefed that these petrol pumps have created a brand of trust among masses and a special scheme for women commuters shall be a regular affair at this all women 24 Hrs. petrol pump. The women officers from administration also launched a scheme for women Drivers “Empowering women-Empowering Nation “, whereby female Drivers on filling fuel worth Rs 2000 can avail an assured gift from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Prominent female officers from police and administration were present on the occasion, who released balloons to mark the new era on “women empowerment in the male dominant profession in J&K state.
