Police XI wins opening tie in Shaheed Manjit Cricket

POONCH, AUG 26: Police XI won the opening match of the Shaheed Manjit Singh Memorial Cricket Tournament, organised by Shaheed Manjit Club at Government Degree College ground, here today.
In today’s match, Police XI defeated Media XI, rather comfortably. Batting first, after winning the toss, Media XI made 108 runs. Pawan and Sajad Bhat were top scorers with 36 and 22 runs respectively. From Police XI, Akhtar took four wickets.
In reply, Police XI chased the total making 109 runs in 13 overs. Samir and Sonu remained top scorers with 20 and 19 runs in their respective accounts.
The event was declared open by District Development Commissioner (DDC), Tariq Zargar, who was the chief guest. Speaking to the gathering, the DDC appreciated the efforts of the Shaheed Manjit Club and its chairman, Mohd Tariq in promoting sports, especially in district Poonch. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch, Rajiv Pandey was the guest of honour. Among others present were Pardeep Khanna, Taj Mir, DySP Shaid Nayeem, Mohan Lal DySP, Dr Saleem and Samir Mir.
