India is lucky in terms of having the greatest youth force in the world and there should be no doubt about it that given the proper guidance, direction and opportunities, the Indian youth shall lead the nation towards achieving the highest place in the world order. The vision of a nation lies in the hands of youth as they are filled with tremendous and towering ambitions. It will be a great waste of human resources if these youth are not provided an opportunity to exercise their talent. Though the primary role of young people is to get good education in order to become better citizens of tomorrow yet the process and moulding is complex one involving multiple factors especially for a nation like India which is known for diversities of all sorts including the economic disparities. With a significant young population of over six hundred million people in our country being below the age of 25 years, the way we nurture our youth into confident, capable and committed citizens will determine our country’s future. The key to prepare youth for nation building is through investment in educating them, in the sharpening of their mental faculties, technical skills, professional competence, and awareness about their social responsibilities. It is a fact that the youth have to shoulder the responsibility of nation-building and that can be achieved through the medium of education and training alone. For this our education system needs to gear up to develop our youth by teaching them to control their lives, which can be done through character-building, healthcare, and sharpening the ability to learn and using experience for attaining set goals. It must teach them to understand life through study of history, science, religion and philosophy and it must also teach them to enjoy their lives through friendships and relationships, observance of nature, and study of art and literature. Last but not the least there is a dire need to effectively focus on providing value-based education to the youth by inculcating in them the spirit of democratic behaviour which calls for an appreciation of the rich diversity of the nation, assimilation of ideas, and accommodation for divergent or contrarian views. The best way to move ahead in this direction is that both the youth as well as the teachers ensure perfect coordination and synchronization which will undoubtedly result in moulding the youth into model citizens of future. It is hoped that those at the helm of affairs in Education sector especially the teachers will vigorously continue their relentless efforts to achieve unprecedented results in ensuring a clean and healthy nation besides becoming second to none in the world order. In this direction all educational and civil services institutions need to inculcate in their students and trainees a sense of social responsibility. Only then we can fulfill the dream of India having model citizenry where every person feels to be a part of the narrative of the country.
