RSS divided people during freedom movement: Mir

SRINAGAR, AUG 16: Congress celebrated 70th year of Independence at Party Headquarters, Srinagar with great enthusiasm. On this occasion, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President, G A Mir unfurled the tri-colour and greeted party-cadre on 70th anniversary of Independence. The party held an extraordinary function of senior party functionaries, Legislators, District Presidents, Contesting Candidates and other senior leaders to celebrate the Day. After unfurling the flag, Mir apprised party workers about importance of 15th August (Independence Day) and contributions of by Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and other top freedom fighters. He informed that India achieved freedom because of sacrifices of great leaders like Mahatama Gandhi, Pt Jawaharlal Nehru etc, who participated in the movement irrespective of religion, caste, colour or creed, displaying unity, togetherness and harmony among every religion or section. Taking the opportunity, Mir lashed out at RSS-BJP for trying to create an atmosphere of uncertainty under the garb of nationalism. RSS is trying to depict that they were also a part of freedom struggle, but I want to tell you that even during freedom struggle, RSS divided communities on religious and caste lines, when the entire nation was struggling to get rid of suppression and tyrannical British colonial rule, Mir maintained.
