JAMMU, AUG 12: While the Supreme Court granted clearance for the execution of work of 400kv Samba-Amargarh Transmission line in Wild Life Sanctuary Hirpura subject to execution of foundation work manually to avoid damaged wild life animals and property, there are reports of violation of the apex court direction. According to sources, Sterlite and their contractors for the projects have deployed heavy machinery and carried out careless blasting that has put the wild life in and around the sanctuary in danger. Locals from the area alleged that this is not only dangerous for the wild animals but has also the potential of destroying the property in the surrounding areas.
While the Govt has already imposed Rs. 2.47 cr penalty on Sterlite and Tata projects, the locals demanded that the matter should be investigated thoroughly and FIR should be lodged against the culprits violating Supreme Court direction.
