Mankotia questions criminal silence of BJP on 35A

GJ Report
Udhampur, Aug 12: Raising question mark on the criminal silence of BJP on article 35A, Panther Party’s state president and former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia alongwith Dhaniram Atri and party workers lodged a strong protest at Salathia Chowk and burnt the effigy of saffron party.
He said Kashmir based political parties have united on article 35A and are getting support over the issue while BJP has maintained a criminal silence on 35A issue in state and asked central government to scrap this article for benefit of Jammu and Kashmir.
After lodging protest against the BJP on article 35A issue, former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia while addressing the workers said that after chairing a meeting of all parties on Monday, Dr Farooq Abdullah has dared the central government to scrap article 35A and face the consequences and revolt in Kashmir more vigorous than Amarnath land row and former CM Omar Abdullah too giving more contradictory statements like his father.
He reminded that last month, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had warned the central government that if any tampering with special status of Jammu and Kashmir would be done or scraping of article 35A, no one would be left to uphold the tricolor in Kashmir and J&K would not remain in present position.
Mankotia questioned that if Kashmir centric parties have united on article 35A issue then why is BJP is shying to unite on the issue with Jammu based political parties. He blamed that BJP has surrendered before PDP for the sake of power and recently Law minister in coalition government has given statement on the support of article 35A in state.
He alleged that to save coalition government in state, BJP has surrended the national interest in state and 25 BJP MLAs have become messenger of PDP from Kashmir to New Delhi. During elections, saffron party demanded abrogation of article 35A, 370 and even promised abrogation of these articles in his election manifesto but unfortunately after assuming power, BJP has betrayed the mandate of people, regretted Mankotia.
Mankotia said that people of state are nationalist and want to join the national steam and hence, its necessary to abrogate article 35A from the constitution of India. He said article 35A is unconstitutional because in 1954 the area of this article was introduced with President ordinance without passing it in parliament and implemented in Jammu and Kashmir.
He warned the BJP to awake from the fever of power and fulfill the promise made during election to scrap the article 35A, 370 and raise the issue vigorously in the region. He said Panther Party is protesting for the dignity and honour of Dogra people as BJP has failed to fulfill the aspirations of people of Jammu region.
