Three-day teachings commence at Shey Jeve-Tsal

LEH, JUL 28: Thousands of devotees including foreigners and locals gathered at Shey, Jevatsal to attain the teachings of Buddhist Spiritual leader Dalai Lama today.
People from different parts of Ladakh holding traditional scarves (Khataks) flowers and incense were seen waiting enroute to seek blessing from Spiritual leader as the three-day teaching commenced today.
While delivering his teachings on Compassion and Wisdom, Dalai Lama said, “When a person sees progress of another, he feels jealous, suspicious and looks for ways to harass or destroy the same. Enmity appeased only by amity. Every man expects hopes and desires for progress. Therefore, it is necessary to practise compassion, love, care and wisdom by human beings.”
In simple terms, compassion and love can be defined as positive thoughts and feelings that give rise to such essential things in life as hope, courage, determination and inner strength, he said, adding happiness is the prime necessity by everyone in this world. “Every prayer does not depend upon faith, prayer has to be understood properly and we have to clear our mind and spirit to attain teachings,” Dalai Lama said.
Religious Heads, Political leaders, District Officers and other guests were also present on the occasion.
