Students protest, demand redressal of demands

JAMMU, JUL 17: College students today staged a protest demonstration at Jammu University and demanded redressal of problems being faced by the students of UG courses.
Large number of students of various colleges today gathered at main gate of Jammu University and started protesting. Shouting slogans, the protestors alleged that the Jammu University authorities have been playing with the career of students by implementing CBCS system. They also burnt the effigy of Vice Chancellor.
President Students’ Union Lucky Singh alleged that the Vice Chancellor has been implementing various orders which are directly effecting the student community. There was massive increase in the fees for examination forms and revaluation forms due to which the student community has been suffering, he said, adding the rules and regulations for the admissions under the CBCS system are totally against the student community and students are facing large number of problems due to the current pattern of CBCS system. He said that issuing such orders has been creating problems for the UG students.
Lucky Singh demanded that the Order should be immediately revoked. The previous order should be implemented according to which any student who clears any two subjects should be given admission into next semester. JU should give equal credits to all subjects without any discrimination in the subjects.
He threatened to intensify agitation if the order was not revoked. The others who were present in the protest included Wasim, Ajay, Muddasir, Arun, Rahul, Vishal, Mandeep and Sahil.
