5 killed in Doda road accidents

Jammu, Jul 17: At least five persons were killed when a taxi they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge while one person died in another mishap in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“A taxi (JKO63392) this evening fell down into deep gorge due to negligence of the driver in Thathri area when the vehicle was on way to Thatri from Cheera village,” police here said.
They said that three occupants died on the spot while one of the injured succumbed in Community Health Centre Thatri.
The deceased were identified as Altaf Hussain, son of Mohammad Iqbal Naik, resident of Jainerri, Yasir Ahmed, son of Abdul Rashid Bhatt, resident Janeeri, Thathri, Touqeer Hussain, son of Rehmatuallh, resident of Zaheri village and Rashid Hussain, son of Munwar Din Lone, resident of Rangola Nowtass.
Meanwhile in a separate incident a JCB fell into River Chenab resulting into the death of a driver identified as Ramesh Kumar alias Lamber, son of Darshan Lal of Pathankot, Punjab.
The dead body has been handed over to the family after legal formalities.
