Jammu, Jul 15: Inspector General of Police Dr S D Singh Jamwal today directed his subordinates to keep close track on social media operators and also initiate action against rumour mongers.
“Keep close track over the social media and identify the miscreants and mischief mongers for necessary action under law, who are found involved in spreading rumours and anti national comments among the general public,” Jamwal said while reviewing Crime, Law and order scenario with range DIsG and District SSsP of Jammu Zone through video conference .
He further directed all the officers and men to remain extra vigilant, particularly in view of ongoing Amarnath Yatra and forthcoming Independence Day.
He further directed all the concerned officers to activate all resources to generate intelligence so that law and order is maintained at all costs and anti national elements do not get a chance to vitiate the prevailing peace and tranquility in the region.
He further said that Supervisory officers be directed to remain alert in their respective jurisdiction and ensure strict Naka checking on NHW from Jammu to Srinagar to prevent the movement of anti national elements from Kashmir valley to Jammu region.
The top cop also stressed upon district SSsP to review the security of all vital installations, religious places, minority pockets and Police/PMF establishment.
The IGP stressed upon the district SSsP to brief their supervisory officers to take effective measures to curb all sorts of crime and ensure that investigation work is carried out professionally in a time bound manner.
During the meeting, the zonal police chief was briefed with regard to crime, cases related to property theft, NDPS, traffic violations, heinous nature of cases, crime against women and on militancy and law and order front , particularly in-view of the ongoing of recent developments in South Kashmir.
He also stressed upon Joint Nakas on all the infiltration routes and night patrolling on National Highway.
