DB issues directives on shifting Mobile Towers from residential areas

JAMMU, JUL 10: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by a law student Navyug Sethi seeking direction to respondents to issue appropriate directions to all those Telecom companies to shift or re-locate their Mobile Transmitting Towers from the residential areas to such places or areas which have been specifically earmarked and specified for installation of Mobile Transmitting Towers as per the guidelines issued by the Jammu Municipal Corporation on 10.4.2016, within such time as may be determined by this Hon’ble Court so that the residents having their residential houses and establishments are saved from suffering serious diseases like cancer, sleep disorders, fatigue, headache, memory loss, depression, hearing problems, joint pains, skin diseases, and even cardiovascular problems which are inevitable because of radiation emitted by these towers.
A Division Bench of Jammu and Kashmir High Court at its Jammu Wing comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice BS Walia after hearing Sr. Advocate Sunil Sethi, issued notice to State and others and in the meanwhile directed that JMC shall ensure implementation of the ‘Guidelines for Installation Of Communication Towers’ 2016 and to submit the compliance report of the same.
