VC appoints junior most as Registrar: NSF

GJ REPORT
JAMMU, JUL 2: In a last ditch effort to secure extension on his post, the Vice Chancellor of Jammu University (JU) instead of holding interview for administrative posts assigned the duties of Registrar, to a junior most person ignoring several senior Professors just to please the people sitting at higher echelons of the power. This was stated by National Secular Forum (NSF) state chief, Dr Vikas Sharma while addressing a press conference today.
Dr Sharma took a dig at Vice Chancellor, who according to him claims himself to be the most honest person on the Earth, and said that he was so desperate to get extension that he chose Director DIQA Dr Meenakshi Kilam for assigning the duties of Registrar in addition to her existing duties.
“The VC continues to discard the process of holding interviews for administrative posts advertised by the Varsity in September 2015 thereby perpetuating a regime of adhocism in running the affairs of university. Besides also indulged into blatant violation of decision of “one man one post” taken in 80th University council on 25th April 2016,” he added.
He pointed out that Dr Kilam was appointed as Director DIQA after interview and this post is junior to the post of Registrar. He lambasted the VC as to how he made her to work as Registrar JU when a number of senior most faculty members are available, who are more competent and administratively sound as compared to Dr Kilam. This speaks of attitude of University authorities to prefer junior persons to get further extension as VC by appeasing the people sitting at higher echelons of power by appointing their blue-eyed on plum positions. He appealed the Pro Chancellor and Chancellor of University of Jammu to take cognizance. Papinder Singh, Reshikesh Rana and Varun Dogra were also present in the press conference.
