J&K Central Excise holds interactive session on GST

An Interactive session on GST was held today at the Office of the Commissioner of Central Excise, J&K in which a large number of representatives from print and electronic media participated.
Speaking on the occasion, C L Dogra, Additional Commissioner, Central Excise Commissionerate, J&K said that the Central Board of Excise and Customs has taken the initiative of starting a knowledge sharing programme for the media fraternity about benefits of GST and its implementation across the country.
He said that it is important because correct information needs to be transmitted to all the stakeholders, including general public and taxpayers for its smooth implementation.
He informed that in J&K they have organised about a dozen GST Awareness programs at Kathua, Samba, Baribrahmana, Gangyal, Satwari, Jammu, Udhampur and Srinagar and by the end of this month they will be able to cover Leh, Kargil, Poonch & Rajouri also.
The aim of the GST awareness campaign is to address the doubts/ queries of all the stakeholders including taxpayers and consumers.
A Power Point presentation showcasing the Design, Main features, Administration and IT Network, Benefits of GST, likely impact of GST on J&K economy was presented by Prakash Chaudhary, Assistant Commissioner.
